Abe Lincoln in the 21st Century is a six-panel comic strip written and drawn by Al Angel chronicling the misadventures of nineteenth-century American president, Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865) in the age of Google, YouTube, and Wikipedia.
The comic focuses on vulgar, mean-spirited humor, using a poorly-drawn stick figure aesthetic. The jokes are usually quite basic and often topical.
According to artist, the effect is intended to be "charming." Whether this is because of or in spite of its frequent depictions of violence and scatological references is not clear.
The comic is published on the internet through Comic Genesis. The first page was put up on July 22, 2007. Although relatively new and almost totally unknown, Abe Lincoln merchandise has been available through the website since September 10, 2007.
The artist/writer, Al Angel, lives with his concerned girlfriend and two cats in Brooklyn, New York.
