Plot

Through various random occurances, a strange explosion goes off. All those who were in the radius of the blast (which turned out to be 12 college students from various areas) experience some pretty significant changes from the norm as a result.

Janet Henson	24	Black-spiky haired, wears dark colors	Janet is pseudo-gothic. He likes dark poetry, is very interested in magic, but generally has a more conniving disposition and doesn't like peircings.
John Queck	20	Red un-kempt hair and wears relaxing clothing	John is a general jack-of-trades. He can fixes cars, gives good relationship advise, plays the flute, travels, writes wepages, and plays role-playing games.
Kipachu	months	Blue cyborg electric rodent	An experiment gone wrong, Kipachu plans to someday rule the world (though he seems pretty clueless about how to do it.)
Mikon Oishii	18	Asian with blue-dyed hair	A Chemistry prodigy, Mikon has been mute since middle school as a result of swallowing on of her own early concoctions. (Designed to strengthen her voice, it made it so she couldn't move her vocal cords.) She designed a univeral catalyst, and has been working for years to regain her voice. She varies between very shy and very outgoing, with little inbetween.
Rebecca Young	20	Blonde, glasses, bouncy	Rebecca could have been a cheerleader, but after years of it in high school, she got tired of hiding her smarts behind contacts and football players. Her senior year, she quit, plunged full-in to her studies, and shined. Later, she applied to NYUT and was accepted (barely) where she met Tymer and fell in love with him at first site (which was in-class, when he answered a physics question)
Ryu Yuhas	21	Tall, blonde-dyed hair	Ryu is the quinessential gentle-giant. He is an expert in meditation, although he does study martial arts he has never actually hurt someone with them. He plays basketball for the scholarship, and has turned down two offers to go pro. He studies fitness management.
Seikatsu Mokueki	22	Brunette with very long hair	Seikatsu studies education, despite her parent's wishes for her to become a professional female sumo wrestler. She eats like a bird (to fight off the slow metabolism her parents had engineered into her), and is generally a cheerful person.
Trevor Bryce	19	Red-brown spikey hair	Trevor is a sub-par fire-magic user. Emotional, over-eager, and extremelly ready to 'leap before he looks' both figuratively and literally, Trevor plans to someday be a skilled Battlemage (despite there not having been any battlemages for over 200 years.)
Tymer Teeking	22	Long Purple-red dyed hair, favors gray trenchcoats	Tymer is a super-genius in physics, and electronics. He is the love interest of Rebecca Young. He loves to be flashy and dramatic.
Y'io'adas	12,404	Long blonde hair, favors natrual greens	A resident of the world of Dyno, Y'io'adas is a young adult elf. He is easily annoyed by Milagers (Elves younger than 1000), and like all Dyno Elves, has been psychically enhanced to be telepathically receptive. Like most Dyno telepaths, his subconscious manifests itself to him (and any receptive to him.) Dyno's subconcious presents itself as a disembodied voice that debates with him.

Background

It's in the 2010's, and life has been progressing much as it normally has. I would say it's set in our world, but frankly, I'm not sure our world will be exactly like that in the future. So, at the point where the story's Earth becoms different from our Earth, blame it on being a slightly alternate dimenon's Earth.

Q. What's a muggle and why is it hard to find one in the Americas?

A. A muggle is the term used by most magic-users in the 2010's and 2020's to refer to people who can't use magic, term came from a popular book that came into creation during the turn of the millinium, and ther term stuck among the magic community. The reason there are few if any true muggles in the Americas is because everyone in the Americas, for the most part, has the potential to use magic. Unlike the "old world" which had strict social boundaries you didn't cross which kept the genes for magic use among a select few, the Americas hardly any social boundaries whatsoever. This lead to magic-user blood becoming mixed in with that of the "muggles". The result was a continent filled with people with the potential for magic, even if they did lack the training.

Q. What's the history behind NYUT (New York University of Technology)?

There was originally a much smaller university at an earlier point in the history of New York from which the current NYUT was created, but as it began to flounder at one point, it was bought out in 2012 by a joint effort between some of the largest technological and educational powers at the time to make the leading technology school in the world. With the creation of this school (whose entry exams were insanely difficult, only allowing in the most determined of inventors and scientists) research in the world picked up that much faster. NYUT quickly became the leader in the world in the areas of electronics and genetic engineering.
