Dorothy has never truely been what is considered normal by other people's standards. All her life she has talked about these "dreams" of a tall shadowy evil figure living in the woods outside of town. Most people just think its the talk of a lonely child but as she grew up she didn't stop talking about these unplesant things. Then one day her little brother is killed in the woods and she is the only witness. The only thing she will tell the police is that the evil thing in the woods killed him. Of course this makes Dorothy look crazy and her family locks her away in an asylum for a year.
Dorothy is a grown woman now and a successful horror writer but her life is far from better. She doesn't sleep anymore because her dead brother haunts her dreams. On top of that more kids are starting to disappear without a trance. Her home town is weird and hiding something. Most of all Dorothy knows she isn't crazy and the demon in the woods is real. Perhaps she can get someone to believe her one day before its too late.
