About
History: Back in 2001 I started writing the jokes for EE in my little notebook. My friend got me to keep track of them and convinced me to turn them into a comic. They were just guy 1 and guy 2 jokes; there was nothing else really to it. We were stuck for a title forever. Since EE was just going to be gag comics, I wanted an appealing, funny title. My friend got the title from the Emergency Exit in the school bus, after naming off a ton of other random things. I liked it, and still do very much. So I decided to get a Keenspace (now Comic Genesis) account. I started updating the site in 2002. That was EE's start. I went for like three months and then gave up. And then I tried starting again, but instead I was going to rewrite it and have it set in a high school. The idea was turned down. After much preparation, I was determined to get it started again and on July 1st 2003 I did and haven’t stopped yet.
Current: Emergency Exit is a coloured comic strip that updates on the main EE page three times a week, occasionally 5 when a donation goal is reached. It is a continuing story, written into strip-like segments with its humor from the gag days still intact. It follows the lives of some anything-but-normal teenagers in a very strange apartment complex. Currently some (not so good at being evil) villains are trying to get the alternate dimension portal from the cupboard of Karl’s apartment. They also are competing with the tenants for artifacts that are scattered across many worlds.
Emergency Exit has gone from simple gags to complex storyline (even though it may not quite seem like it yet). Most of the focus is on sillyness and character development. The cast is far too large to list, please visit the Characters Page.
Since its restart in 2003, EE has been going strong with over 900 strips made.
