As with my other comic, Trials in the Light, Empty Space is on hiatus due to computer trouble. I apologize, and will have it back as soon as possible.
Empty Space
In the first century AD, there was a Greek inventor named Heron. He created a device known as an aeolipile, a ball that was spun by the power of steam. However, its potential went unnoticed until the early 1800s. This, however, was unconsequential until Harold Shellers, a little-known inventor, created the world's first Automaton; self-governing, self-sustaining, and powered by steam.
Plot
In 1843, Harold SHellers discovered a technological orb of unearthly origin. Now, seventeen years later, Professor Thomas Jeffries, the apprentice of Shellers, is being hounded for the location of this orb by a secret organization. He must find it first, or risk the technology being used destructively.

- Description: Thomas Jeffries is the head of the Inventor's League at Jeffries Institute, a college started by his great-grandfather and currently owned and run by his older brother, Andrew Jeffries. Tom lost his left arm when he was only seven years old, but had created a crude Automaton replacement by the time he was nine. This was his very first invention, and since then he has spent every waking moment devoted to his work. He is the foremost inventor and mechanic in the United States.
- Clara Rose-Thatcher:
- Age: 23
- Height: 5'7"
- Eyes: Green
- Hair: Red
- Description: Clara once worked for Mr. Jeffries as his head mechanic. When family troubles arose, she was forced to go back home, leaving her job and everything she had worked for behind. She is one of the few women mechanics in the world, and is one of the best. She now lives in the territory of Utah, having been forced from her home after leaving Jeffries Institute. She has become an excellent, although little-known, mechanic, and is beginning to make a name for herself. She owns the house of the late Harold Shellers, the man who created the first Automaton.

- Eyes: Green
- Hair: Brown
- Description: Edward Hye is the head of the Order of the White Glove, and is actively pursuing the Orb of Origin. He believes that Jeffries has some sort of map in his possession, and will stop at nothing to find it. Hye has been known to kill men with his bare hands, and despite his size is a formidable hand-to-hand combatant. His reasons for wanting the Orb of Origin are generally unknown.
