Comic:Endlion
From CGWiki
Endlion is a webcomic by Alice, that she will begin updating weekly as soon as she fully understands this strange new system here on Comic Genesis.
Setting and History:
The comic is set on the planet Peria, the second planet from the sun in the three planet system known as Endlion. Peria is a relatively small planet, in comparison to the two other planets in the system, but and has a relatively diverse population, much like Earth's, with animal and plant life, as well as extensive human habitation, large cities for the most part, covering much of the small continental land mass of Peria. There is a vampire population on Peria that, in recent history, has been discovered and integrated semi-sucessfully into the social and economic structure of the humans on the planet. This was accomplished, in most part, by the invention of particular pharmaceuticals that numbed vampire's superior attributes about to that of a humans, and likewise greatly shortened their lifespan, about to a hundred years or so. Perian humans have much shorter lifespans than Earthlings, generally only about 40-60 years, on the average. The atmosphere on Peria is somewhat unstable, and the lifelong inhaling of mildly poisionous gases, which vampires, with their superior immune systems, are naturally unaffected by.
Of course, there was a movement of resistance from the vampires; not all of them had even wanted to reveal their presence to the human population. The resistors decided to remain illegal non-citizens, and form underground clans of their own. Endlion focuses on two of these clans, the Rose Vampires, and the Crimson Moon vampires. Clan vampires often have differing views and lifestyles, leading to occasional scuffles and territory debates, and sometimes, even minor wars.
Every five years or so, Peria gets selective acid rainfall.. that touches down in select, completely random locales, but globally spread, similar in some ways to a tornado, as the warnings signs can usually be caught up to twelve hours before the storms, giving evacuation plenty of time to ensue. However, only one type of substance is known to stand up to acid rain: Cherrystone, which is harvested on the third planet in the Endlion system, Static. However, the main religion on Peria denounces the idea of alien life, and therefore has rewritten history books to exclude the occasional visits and borrowed space technology from the sentient race on Olivia, the jungle-covered planet nearest the sun. Therefore, all space imports have to come in through the black market, and since Cherrystone is so precious, it makes these ventures quite a commodity, and also creates a don't-ask-and-don't-tell rift between the government and the religious factions.
