Horndog was created by Isaac M. Baranoff, and focuses on a skirt-chasing, pot-smoking dog named Bob, whose day-by-day existence is based in an attempt to live life to the fullest, often delving headfirst into any new experience that comes his way. The strip serves as a humorous satirical comic in the vein of Fritz the Cat and Howard the Duck.

Horndog was introduced as an underground comic in 2003, and made its web debut in 2009. Since its introduction, Horndog has attained a strong cult following and appraisal from varied cartoonists from both the mainstream and underground scenes, and underground musicians. It is frequently ranked highly by users on websites such as WebcomicZ and Top Webcomics.

Plot

Bob's lifestyle often causes problems for him, as he was once buried alive by psychotic former fling Andrea Mouse, and indirectly drove the husband of another one of his "conquests" to engage in a shooting rampage in which Bob's roommate, Freddy, was wounded. The back-to-back occurrence of these events lead Bob to take some time out to travel the country and clear his head, during which time he briefly worked as a carnival barker in a small town. After being robbed and incapacitated by a driver Bob hitched a ride with, he wound up back at home. In spite of his frequent trysts, it appears that Bob does love his girlfriend, Charlene, as he once feared for her life after being told that his ancestry was cursed, which a fortune teller claims was the result of Bob's great-grandfather sleeping with the wife of her great-uncle, a voodoo priest possessed by an evil deity. Although the fortune teller claims to have lifted the "curse", Bob's life remains similarly unusual in the aftermath of these events: Freddy commits suicide and returns as a zombie, and Bob accidentally finds himself transported to a strange planet inhabited by "hairless apes", Earth.
