Nighthawk/Dayhawk takes place in in the year 2014 (ten years after the first draft was written). The main character is named both Nighthawk and Dayhawk, given the names by Dr. Rost, a senile, seventy-nine-year-old hobby archaeologist who discovered him in a tomb in South America on December 21, 2012. Nighthawk for the quiet and calculating personality that generally dominates his body, and Dayhawk for the fierily murderous manchild that takes over him seemingly at random. As of yet, ND knows nothing of his origins, but sensitively takes to heart the impersonal treatment he receives from the senile doctor, and strikes out into the streets of Laughton City (basically New York). Immediately after leaving he finds Lu, a local celebrity for being born with no arms and succeeding in life as well as anyone else. He and Lu soon discover that Lu is the target of a skinhead organization aiming for physical "perfection." In fighting to destroy the "Avian Perfectionists," however, they find something much more ominous lurking behind its bigoted face.

(don't worry, this is only in the first few pages)

I started Nighthawk/Dayhawk in November of 2004, as a project to keep my hands occupied in class (hence the extreme sketchiness of the plot in Volume 1). Two years, one and a half drafts, and 143 Photoshopped pages later, though, it's become a much more serious project. Yes, it's drawn in an anthropomorphic style, but it's primarily an action comic. I found it more fun to draw this way, and of course, if I had tried drawing it normally, I'd still be on the first page trying to get a face right. Also, don't let the sketchy beginnings discourage you from reading it! I started the digital draft a little over a year ago, and since then I've gotten better with the software and gotten better software otherwise, so bear with it, and it'll get better.

I hope everyone enjoys this comic. It's been a lot of fun to work on (and I'm less than halfway through it now, so it should have some more fun left in it), and with luck that'll show through when reading it.

There is another mirror at http://nighthawk-dayhawk.deviantart.com, but you have to be a member there due to the mature content tag on the comic.
