Out There is a daily webcomic by R.C. Monroe. It began publication on June 12, 2006. Although created for and currently published exclusively on the Web, Out There essentially conforms to newspaper daily strip conventions; it is drawn to the dimensions of a newspaper daily, and updates according to a newspaper daily (Monday–Saturday) schedule. The strip's monochrome palette also suggests suitability as a newspaper strip. Additionally, the strip substitutes symbols ("@#$&!") for profanity, as a syndicated newspaper strip would.
Out There is a continuity, or serial strip, but each individual strip generally includes a punch line, and some strips, while fitting into the storyline, could also be categorized as stand-alone Gag-a-day strips.
Plot
Miriam, an extroverted and impulsive bartender, has set out on a cross-country car trip with two potential goals: to begin a relationship with a man she met online, and to work in her friend's tavern. On her first day out she encounters John, a man walking along the highway towards no fixed destination. Although (or perhaps because) he is willing to reveal little about his past, she becomes intrigued by him and convinces him to accompany her on her trip.
