Plot

In 1981, the city of New York was destroyed at the apex of a massive hero-villain conflict. As a result, heroic and villains organizations signed a series of rules detailing exactly what each side could or could not do to one another. Ratified into law by the courts, the Accords remain the benchmark for Hero-Villain confrontations.

However, there are forces at play that are opposed to the Accords. The Antiheroes undertake terrorist activities, trying to destroy the Villains by any means necessary. Rogue villains plot and scheme, brought to heel by the Superhuman Enforcement Agency (S.E.A.). And young heroes try to make their mark on the world.

In Patchwork City, Lucky Ladd and Amber Smith have formed the Patchwork Champions, hoping to protect their city and succeed as heroes. With other young heroes joining them, they are poised to make a mark on the world.

Characters

The Patchwork Champions

Character Hero Alias Age Appearance Bio/description
Amber Smith Timebender 28 Brown hair, dark eyes The leader of the team, Amber dedicated her life to heroism over her father's objections and her sister's turn to villainy. Serious and flippant by turns, her leadership is the glue that holds the Champions together.
Lucky Ladd Lucky Ladd 28 Blond hair, blue eyes Lucky's whimsical attitude to the world covers deep and abiding self-esteem issues, driven by his inability to control his luck powers, and his resultant uncertainty about whether he earned any of his success. His past, thus far, remains shrouded in mystery, but he has prior history with Dudeman. His father, Brightwalker (once the sidekick Uberlad), is one of Chicago's most prestigious heroes.
Jim Carpenter Handyman  ?? Black hair, dark eyes Jim signed on to the Champions in March of 2006, bringing his amazing control over duct tape to the team. He refuses to seriously disclose his past, but his chivalry and natural kindness make him a solid addition to the team.
Nadia Tyler Mayfly 26 Red hair, gray eyes Nadia became one of the Champions as part of a commuted sentence, after she took action to prevent a crime wave that she had been a part of. A profound admirer of superheroes, she drives herself as hard as possible to prove that she is not the criminal she nearly became, and her infectious cheer and powerful suit of technomagical armour has thus far helped keep her a solid addition to the team.

Trivia

- This is the third pixel art comic done on Comic Genesis by me; the first two can be found in the site archives.
- Patchwork Champions' first draft was "Captain Icicle and the Patchwork Heroes", and features a living icicle fighting against Dr. Ecchs of Evil, Incorporated. In that incarnation, Timebender was Timebender Lass, and served a much more 'support' than 'lead' role, and Handyman and Mayfly were absent, replaced with The Lady and The Inskeletal Bulk. Oy. Dr. Ecchs was supported by a supervillainess named Evil, a villain named Delusion, and Tony the Tentacle Monster, none of whom survived to the final draft.
- In early script drafts, Dragonfly was meant to join Malefico as a counterpart to Mayfly, but the story did not reasonably allow for it.
