Personal Disaster Planning is a webcomic about a group of friends at the University of Linkun, trying to make their way through everyday life, but not everything at the university is quite as it seems...

Plot

Well, there's not exactly that much of a strong plot established yet, and telling you the future plot would ever-so-slightly spoil things (or confuse the hell out of you, one of the two). For now, I'll just go with the comic description at the top of the page ;)

Characters

Major characters

Character Appearance Bio/description
Brad Spikey black hair, dark-ish clothes Brad is probably one of the most intelligent members of the group, and also one of the most "mysterious". He often seems to appear out of nowhere (how does he do that?), and sometimes has little technological gadgets that you wouldn't normally think a student would have...
Monkey Long brown hair, dark glasses, always wears a bandana Monkey is a Nintendo fanboy, and whilst he would do just about anything to get his hands on the latest decent DS game, he is somewhat lethargic when it comes to anything else. He is also an avid fan of anime (don't mention the One Piece dub near him!)
Wayneymo Short black hair, light clothes Wayneymo is a bit of a rocker, and can usually be found with his guitar with him. He may be the shortest in the group, but he can still get some pretty significant noise outpout when he's "doing his thing". He also seems to get all the girls, although nobody is quite sure how...
Zack Mmm.. facial hair. Usually wears a shirt with a "Z" on it, and has several small bands around his wrists Zack doesn't just use sarcasm. Sometimes, he can become sarcasm, and when he does, run. He can also be something akin to a prophet of doom, although this is probably preferable to the sarcasm being aimed at you. Boring or irritating people, meet your doom at Zack's hands!
Jeff Tall, well-built, long brown hair, usually wears a sporting-related shirt Jeff is very into sports, be it American Football, Golf or e-sports. He is also has a habit of randomly tackling people when he gets bored (I pity the fool who gets caught in the tackle). Often has public vehicular transportation issues (ie the bus is often late).
Jei Long blonde hair, dark glasses, usually wears dark clothes Jei is a bit of a hardcore gamer on the PC, and usually dislikes consoles, unless said console has a Final Fantasy title on it. He has been taking martial arts training for years, and he is currently studying under a slightly mad sensei who teaches a blend of ken-jutsu, nin-jutsu, and karate. As a result, Jei will often be ready to solve problems succinctly, and somewhat violently.

Minor characters

Character Appearance Bio/description
Toby Boring. Wears a bland suit and has glasses. The most boring lecturer on the planet. Bring something to the lecture to entertain you, or you may just lose your will to live.

Background

The webcomic started out being loosely based on myself and my close friends during the early days of our tiem at university, but it has become somewhat more loosely based than before, mostly to allow a bit more room for silliness and humour.

Random Facts

  • The comic started back in October of 2005, but the original ideas and designs were scrapped in favour of a faster-to-make, slightly better-looking (albeit black and white) and smaller-file-size format.
  • The name "Personal Disaster Planning" is a parody of "Personal Development Planning", something which students are university are frequently encouraged to do. Early on in the first semester (especially in Fresher's Week and the week or two following), certain lecturers can't seem to mention Personal Development Planning enough... okay, you can stop talking about it, we get the gorram idea! As a result of that feeling, the comic ended up with a name to parody it.
