Description and History of Monkey Lad
Lots of superheroes die. Many several times over, but none are so unfortunate as the sidekick Monkey Lad's 9 incarnations:
I - Grew up, moved out of the mansion, and took on the identity of Spider Monkey after being scared by a slightly overgrown spider. He formed his own team of grown up sidekicks known as the Big Boys which disbanded shortly thereafter because of creative differences (ie, they all thought the others were babys, and they wanted to move on to more grown-up stuff).
II - Died in a bizarre gardening accident.
III - Choked to death on vomit. The police never released information regarding whether it was, in fact, Monkey Lad #3's vomit, or someone elses.
IV - Death by exploding Nazis.
V - Contracted a fatal disease, got flung into the far future where a cure was promised, got cloned, died, was reborn in the distant past, got returned to the present older than his own father, became a cyborg, died again, came back to life again, died again, got married, had children, came back to life again, and - finally - got catapulted into the Big Bang at the beginning of the universe. Or at least he would have if his entire existence hadn't been erased at the very last second and none of this ever actually happened.
VI - Death by exploding Nazis, again.
VII - Voted to death with a tire iron by the readers.
VIII - This was the Monkey Lad seen during the epic multi-series Revolution crossover story. His whereabouts are currently unknown.
IX - The current Monkey Lad, and reportedly a fan favorite, so they'll probably be sticking with him for quite a while.
