Description and History
Totally-not-a-Ripoff-of-a-Cat-Themed-Batman-Villain-Girl originally appeared in Masked Monkey comics as a fairly typical cat burglar. Her robberies, perpetrated for no reason but the accumulation of money, were continually thwarted by the Masked Monkey. On a few occasions she would stray into the realm of actual evil plots, but these storylines were rare.
Over the years, Totally-not-a-Ripoff-of-a-Cat-Themed-Batman-Villain-Girl was continually reinvented and brought into use whenever the writers ran short on ideas. Usually the changes to her costume and methods didn't stick for long.
One notable exception was the Masked Monkey Manga version, in which she was depicted as a ninja. Part of this carried over into other series where she was given certain ninja tricks like smokebombs, and, in one extremely forgettable one-shot story, nunchaku.
The smokebombs stuck, and so did a newfound tendancy to stand and fight intead of beating a hasty escape. After these changes proved stable, her personality was deemed different enough from certain DC characters to warrant her name being shortened to the slightly less annoying 'RipOff'.
Eventually these smokebombs metamorphosed into a full-blown case of pyromania, and by the gritty 1980s RipOff was a violent, explosive-happy staple in the Giga Squad Team's Rogues Gallery. Still motivated primarily by money, she has teamed up with innumerable other villains due to a willingness to serve as a minion for cash. It has been established that the bells on her head are, in fact, concealed high-powered explosives, thus answering the question of whether or not the bells would tip off security guards as to her presence decades after it was first brought up by comic book geeks. Unfortunately, her lack of actual superpowers leaves her easily subdued after an action-packed altercation.
Little is known about RipOff's origins or private life. Traditionally she has always vanished from the story when not involved in some scheme or another.
