Reporterz: Da Comic, or Reporterz, as it is sometimes called, is a bizzare, interdimensional sprite comic created by Mastercougar. It features a group of beings from various universes, who travel through the "Dimensi-Space" that fills the multiverse, a technique pioneered by Dr. Tyler Astern. Due to the wonders of the Many Worlds Interpretation of quantum physics, they find that many of these universes resemble works of fiction, with omnipotent Authors pulling the strings.

Plot

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Our story begins with two ordinary-seeming people from the Pokemon World- reporter Gabby Sanchez and her assistant, Ty Astern. We watch them for a few episodes as they deal with irritating interviewees.

Then, we learn that Ty is actually an inventor, whose latest achivement is what he calls the Dimensi Portal. Before their eyes, a stange dragon emerges from the portal, calling himself Trogdor. Gabby and Ty escape from him, but Trogdor goes on a rampage of deadly Burninination. Finally, the dragon hatches a plan, seizing another portal generator before he flees.

From the heavens descends the Author Mastercougar. Though vain and boastful, he explains much to Gabby and Ty. One thing Ty had recently discovered about universes is that each one has a mystical core, closely related to its prominent aspects, and granting unique powers. Now Trogdor knows this, and is set on using these powers for domination.

Our heroes' mission? To retrieve as many of these cores as possible, and to thwart Trogdor at every turn. And it all begins with the world of Hyrule...

Characters

Gabby

Gabby is a former reporter of great renown in Houenn, though she's arguably the most normal of the group. Gabby has a quick temper and finds Mastercougar irritating, but she's got a good set of morals behind her. Gabby owns a Loudred named Johnny, who has convinced himself that it's the middle of the seventies.

Ty

Born the son of poor immigrants, Ty was quickly discovered to be a child prodigy, and after years of rigorous training, emerged as one of the most prominent physisists in Houenn. He's never forgotten his humble origins, however, and even took camerawork as a part-time job while he worked on his theories. Ty owns a Magneton named Leo, who has somehow mangaged to become a gangster and a gangsta simultaneously.

Link

Though he is an orphan, brought up by his grandmother, Link has saved the sacred realm of Hyrule countless times. Link has two strange quirks. The first is that he speaks only in a strange variant of Old English. The second is an insatiable love for doughnuts. The Hero of Time has a long-running relationship with the Princess Zelda, though it's questionable how long that will last...

Zelda

The Princess of Hyrule is one of the strangest of her line. Not only is she romantically involved with a commmoner (Link) but she is the first of the Royal Family to ever travel to another dimension. Zelda has a vast education in the native magics of Hyrule, but this rarely comes to the surface due to her shyness and almost paralyzing fear of talking.

Eliza

The daughter of a human woman and a Grey Demon, Eliza fights to free her native world. Being a Half-Demon, she has the ability to change size and shape. She also wields a slow but powerful blaster. Eliza hates Zelda's guts, which is largely because Eliza's also developed a thing for Link, despite having an active boyfriend in Kyo.

Kyo

Kyo found himself in Eliza's dimension when he stumbled through a random portal in a well. Since then, he and Eliza have been together, though Kyo travels home often through the same portal. Little is known about this Kyogre Pokemorph's origins, as the most he's told readers is that his entire dimension is filled with human-pokemon mixes like himself.

Illogic

Illogic, or Illie, as he's often known, is the embodiment of all the strangeness and complexity of the multiverse. As such, he's known to say random and completely incomprehensible things, and God help you if you ask him to explain something!

Trogdor

The famed Burninator of the lands of Peasantry had a good life setting peasants and peoples ablaze, but he recently turned to professional villainy and world domination. So far he's been less than successful, but he might get somewhere if he only caught a lucky break...

Zard & Madoom

Advertising themselves as "professional rampagers", these two strange Pokemon showed up one day at Trogdor's place when he had his minion tryouts, and were promptly hired. Madoom is brutal, powerful, and incredibly stupid. But Zard is both physically skilled and intelligent, being nearly as knowledgeable in physics as Ty. Other than that, we know relatively little about them.

Logic

This villain was once part of the eternal force of the multiverse also known as Logic. But during events with a certain Wisest Pikachu, he split off from the force and gained gooey powers as well. After becoming somewhat displaced in space and time, Logic turned vicious and assembled an army of technology. He now serves as ruler of an entire third of the planet Gebra.

Storylines

Comics which have story arcs and chapters can include a list of each chapter.

Storyline 1: In the Begining, There Was Hyrule

In this storyline, Gabby and Ty go after their first core in the world of Hyrule. They battle and defeat Trogdor, with aid from Link and Zelda, who decide to come stay with them.

Storyline 1.5: Misadventures of a Burninator

In this storyline, Trogdor decides to improve on his methods, and seeks out an evil lair and some minions. Once he's got them, Trogdor wages an attack on Gabby and Ty, which is ultimately unsuccessful. He and his minions then move on to their next plan.

Storyline 2: Just Hangin'

In this storyline, our heroes go off to a dimension run by Wisest Pikachu, a weird Author friend of MC's. An epic battle arises when Trogdor gets his hand on its core, and it's WP's characters who are the key to victory.

Storyline 3: Strange Kidnapping

In this storyline, MC finds himself bored with Zelda, so removes her from the comic. Link takes offense at this, naturally enough. MC concurs, and gives Link the chance to win her back by undergoing a series of battles. Link emerges victorious, but there may just be a conspiracy behind it all, and the presence of the Half-Demon Eliza seems to complicate matters.

Storyline 3.5: Demonic Battle

In this storyline, Eliza's Full-Demon sister Sila appears, and attempts to claim her powerful blaster. Which, y'know, sounds kinda like InuYasha. With the help of her father's ghost, Eliza retains the weapon.

Storyline 4: World of Numbers

In this storyline, our heroes finally decide to go after another core, this time in the universe of Gebra, where numbers dominate many things. Of course Trogdor shows up too, and forms an alliance with Logic, the dictator who rules the land. The quest for the core leads the characters all over the planet, and they run into muffiny cults and Mathemagicians on their search, among other things.

Critisism

Over time, Reporterz: Da Comic has recived bad favor from various critics. One of the main problems that is often pointed out is the bizzare sprite standard of mixing Pokemon-based heads with Megaman-based bodies. Mastercougar, the comic's author, generally counters this by insisting the these sprites are caricatures. Reporterz also takes heat for having a number of "fight tournaments," or system-based battles between characters. But Mastercougar feels this shouldn't be a problem, so long as there's plot and character development underlining it all.
