Plot

Legend speaks of a great evil, who, millenia ago, attempted to overthrow the natural order of things and instill herself as ruler of it all.

Legend tells the story of how one brave elementalist gathered forces of good to her, and sealed the evil away, saving the world from harm.

Legend references the six great scrolls of power, with which the sorceress had hoped the win the world over yet.

But she was stopped, and the scrolls scattered, lost to time. And as time passed, the smallfolk forgot about their history, and lived in peace and harmony, for they believed the world to be safe.

The seal failed, however, and unknown to the majority of the world, the sorceress is once more loose to wreak havoc. The only way she can do it is with the scrolls, however, and so the select group of elementalists who watched over the seal sent out one of their own to gather the scrolls before she could, thus preventing disaster.

But she's not the only one who's hunting them down. Others, too, seek the legendary items, presumably to increase their own personal power.

And so three young adventurers, brought together by destiny, are on a search. The reason they seek the mystical items does not seem to matter, for even if it is for personal power, greed is far better than letting the sorceress lay her hands on them again.

Their quest will span the world, and eventually they will face the greatest battle of all.

Parts

Part One
Miyoshi, Meiko, and Nakara are brought together after a minor misunderstanding about scrolls in which the first two try to kill either. After discovering that they're journeying for a similar goal, the three decide to team up - or rather, Nakara decides that the three should team up - and they start off. While stopping at a village to pick up supplies, they learn of a tournament, in which the prize is a scroll, and assuming that it's what they're looking for, the three sign up. The tournament commences, and a new, shadowy character is introduced, who seems to be behind it all. Nakara comes away victor and wins a minor scroll, but the malicious looking woman looks like she's found something else.

Part Two
The trio head off to continue their journey, disappointed that the scroll was not one of the legendary six. Tension escaltes between Meiko and Nakara, and soon the heroes find something new awaiting them.

Characters

The Heroes

Miyoshi
Miyoshi
  • Miyoshi - Hard-headed, tough, and difficult to get along with, Miyoshi is one of the main characters of the comic. All that's really known about her is that she's an elementalist originally from the land of Fire, and her abilities in manipulating flame prove that she comes from a strong bloodline. Because of her reluctance to reveal anything at all about herself, she can be perceived as cold and stubborn, but her relationship with Nakara, and then later on with Meiko proves that she does have a heart somewhere inside. Her source of power comes completely from her elemental abilities, and because the only element she's mastered is Fire, Miyoshi relies on her offense to win in a battle.
Meiko
Meiko

  • Meiko - Meiko can be said to be the kid of the comic - though call her a kid to her face and she'll blow up at you about it. Born to the seal-watchers, Meiko was sent out into the civilized world as one of their people to track down the six scrolls and secure them before the sorceress does. She's rather kind-hearted, but often misses or overlooks the most obvious things, which sometimes leads to seeing her as numbskulled. Normally, though, she can be rather smart. Her power mainly comes from her phasing ability, which gives her an edge in both offense or defense. She is a child of Light, however, and so the power from that which manifested itself in her is a weak ability to hypnotize others, though that power is very untrained.
Nakara
Nakara

  • Nakara - The eldest and supposedly wisest of the group, Nakara seems to almost be the team leader, mostly because Meiko is flustered by half the things she does and Miyoshi respects her enough to not argue. And she could beat them both up with little problem. Fun-loving, easy-going, and all too willing to use her feminine wiles to get what she wants, she is definately the sneakiest of the three main characters. While she maintains that facade most of time, there are hints of a deeper, more sadistic side to Nakara. That, along with the fact that she's unwilling to reveal anything about who she is or where she's from could raise suspicions. Nakara fights with weapons, mostly, which tend to be powered by her energy manipulation. Similarly, she has the ability to manipulate her shadow, and she is definately the most agile and dexterous of the three.

The Villains

Tsuruka
Tsuruka
  • Tsuruka - Little is known about this mysterious character other than she's probably the kind of person who goes around kicking puppies just because she can. She hosted a tournament, in which the prize was a scroll, but her reasons for doing so are unknown.

Background

History

In the beginning, when the world was first created, and people began to populate it, the continent and isles were united under a common leader. The people did not associate themselves as living in a particular area- nay, they were all citizens of the world.

However, as time passed, a strange thing began to develop in some members of the population. Children began to display strange and special talents. Strangely enough, the onset of the type of power seemed to be affected by the enviroment they lived in. Those from the northwest of the continent found themselves gifted with Fire, those from the southwest gained power over Air, those of the easternmost coast had an affinity with Water, and Earth developed in the remainder. The isles developed differently. Their children were gifted with the powers of Light and Dark, and proved to be more powerful than the more common, material elementalists were.

And so, the world began to fracture. No longer were all six united, nay, instead they each preferred to rule over their own. For surely, was not Fire superior to all the others, and so why should Fire be simply another of the masses? Everyone believed in much the same rule.

Yet, to prevent the world from falling to chaos, those most intelligent among the elementalists decided that they must do something. And it was a boy from Earth who realized that if he concentrated enough, he could get the wind to stir.

It was an important discovery. Soon, elementalists all around the world began to understand that they were born with one type of power, but could learn the others with time and effort. Once more, they had found common ground, and so the elementalists broke off from their non-gifted peers, and lost all identification with who they once were. They belonged to the world.

Of course, with the only barrier between them gone, the six separate countries were once more reforged. However, they maintained their identities, and chose to form a council, where they could rule diplomatically. Therefore, each was separate, and yet happily part of the whole.

It progessed like this for millenia.

And then, something went wrong.

The events surrounding the sorceress' attempt for total power are unclear at best. We only know of the results it produced: she was sealed away in the Wild Continent none had ever tamed, surrounded by beasts and demons. A group of select elementalists, trained by she who had overcome the sorceress was chosen to stay there, and watch over the seal.

Six scrolls, one from each country, rumored to be of great power were found in the sorceress' fortress. They were scattered, so that no other being would once again try what the sorceress had dared to do. They were put under the strongest protection. And so, the world was once again safe.

However, the elementalists, who were once whole, seem to be strangely fractured. Children from Dark are looked upon in disgust, and many wither away without realizing the potential of their talents. It is simply the way it has been, for a thousand years now.

And now, strange rumors of her return are circulating.

Politics

When the six remerged, after the elementalists had declared themselves independent, they decided the best thing to do was to create a council of sorts, where each country would have a say in what occured. Therefore, the Council, as it is cleverly named, was formed. They decided to place it on the tiny island fought over by Fire and Air, claiming it as an independent entity in its own right.

The Council holds a delegate from each of the countries. Back before the sorceress, Light and Dark were chairs, and the material elements followed after. Yet, after her, when Dark fell into disfavor, Light has claimed the sole position as head of the Council. The two countries often warred, and Light saw this as justice.

When the Council was formed, the elementalists also decided that a training school was due, to teach those of one element how to use the others. Keeping their stance of neutrality, they also chose the island, and the tiny, once insignifigant mass of land found itself the seat of power for all the world.

The Council is formed simply of six delegates, one from each country. Dark is allowed in, but has very little say in the agenda. The delegates, traditionally non-elementalists, report back to the separate leaders of each country- also traditionally non-elementalists. Taking political power would renounce their claim of belonging to only the world, and the mere idea of it is taboo. Inside the countries, the leaders hold full power. After all, Water is not concerned about what the citizens of Air do or how they are treated. Therefore, it is only foreign policy that is discussed in the Council.

Geography

Map
Map

A few notes of interest which cannot be clearly read off the map follow.

The center, unlabeled island serves as the seat for both the Council and the Elementalist Training School.

Rathmir is sometimes referenced to as the Wild Continent, and it is the place that the sorceress was sealed for so long.
