The Story Thus Far...

Spider Bubblegum is set in the sleepy little town of Birchwood - just your generic American small town, except for the rather insignificant fact that all of its residents happen to be of the fuzzy and/or feathery variety. (This certainly does not make Birchwood stand out, as humans don't seem to exist anywhere in the entire universe of SBG - it's rumored that they might have existed at one point, but at any rate, there aren't any around now.) Though Birchwood is normally a place where "nothing ever happens, and time just stands still", there are some bizarre rumors circulating about the seemingly unremarkable town, mostly involving weird creatures living in the forest outside of town, and suspicious goings-on at the local branch of the mega-giant Pandora Corporation...

But, I'm getting ahead of myself. Our story begins when one Victoria Ricochet, a tomboyish young coyote and a relative newcomer to Birchwood, takes an interest in the story of the legendary "Bug Man" - a strange, moth-like creature reported to be wandering the woods by numerous eyewitnesses beginning around twenty years ago. Determined to make a name for herself - and possibly make some serious cash selling her story to the media - Vic sets out, video camera in hand, to prove the existance of the Bug Man once and for all.

But what she ends up finding in those dark woods far exceeds anything that she - or anyone else - could have possibly imagined...

Anyway, to make an overly long story short, after one very eventful night in the woods Vic and her reluctant friend Phil now find themselves thrown into one incredibly weird adventure after another, investigating monsters, ghosts and other such creepy goings-on while trying to get to the bottom of the biggest mystery of all - just who, or what, is the Bug Man?

Characters

Victoria Ricochet - The heroine of our story, Vic is a free-spirited, adventurous coyote who can't stand being forced to sit in one place for too long and is always in search of danger and excitement. She tends to be quite gullible and often too quick to jump to conclusions, but once she's set her mind on something there's almost no way to get her to back down.

Phillip F. Phisher - Vic's best buddy is a laid back, guitar strummin' Siamese cat and leader of his own somewhat mediocre garage band. He rarely takes anything very seriously, and sometimes tries a little too hard to be cool. Though he initially doubts the Bug Man's existance, he's forced to change his mind after a chance encounter in the deep woods one dark night.

The Bug Man - Far from the horrifying beast all the legends make him out to be, the eccentric Bug Man (or just "Bug", as he prefers to be known) is normally a very quiet, soft-spoken fellow, though he does have a tendency to be overly melodramatic and theatrical at times. He loves collecting old, dilapidated computer equipment and has even built his entire home out of spare parts he recovered from local dumps. He only has one true goal in life, but in order to achieve it, he might need a little outside help...

Rey - Phil's "pet" (of sorts) is an odd little guy who just appears one day with no real explanation. Despite his somewhat creepy appearance, he's a harmless, playful fellow, though he does have a tendency to get in the way and mess things up. Nobody's quite sure exactly what he is, though Bug speculates that he may be a rather puny specimen of the legendary monster known as El Chupacabra...

Pepperidge Pendleton - This pampered Pomeranian from Birchwood's upper-crust society seems to have nothing better to do with her life than make Vic miserable. Despite (or perhaps because of) her wealth, she's incredibly greedy and will stop at nothing to get her hands on something she wants. Too bad what she wants is the Bug Man himself...

Diego de Flamenco - Pepper's only "friend" (and I use that term loosely), this birdbrained flamingo tries to be charming and irresistable, but only ends up looking hilarious and clueless. He has a bit of a crush on Vic, and won't leave her alone despite the fact that she invariably leaves him with a couple of new broken bones every time he gets too close to her.
