Squid Ninja is set on an isolated Pacific island called Harbor Crescent, specifically in the city of the same name. The story largely follows the underworld denizens of the metropolis, a motley assortment of ninjas, assassins, thugs, goons, and ninjas (yes, it is worth mentioning ninjas twice) who vie for power on behalf of wealthy and oftentimes desperate businesspeople. One highlight of the area is the presence of Ninjas (also called "full-blood ninjas"), somewhat superhuman beings with a natural talent for the art of stealth.

Characters

Ikago
The titular character. A former member of a Ninja clan caled Ghost Orb, he was banished after being blamed for botching an important assassination. He spends his now abundant free time perfecting his craft and running into people with whom he'd rather not associate. Among those who know of the presence of Ninjas, his abilities are said to be near-legendary, and he often finds himself the target of assassins and various punks who would love to be "the guy that took down that one Ninja."
Hyacinth Petal
Daughter of a wealthy paper magnate who happened to be a "client" of the Ghost Orb clan. She ran into Ikago one afternoon as the Ninja was looking for her father. She longs to move from the suburbs to the more exciting downtown area, and is using her graduate studies as a pretext to do just that.
Spix McGraw
Something between a drifter and a mercenary, he traveled to Harbor Crescent looking for someone named "Folús." No average fighter, he managed to survive a run-in with Ikago after he made the Ninja botch yet another assassination. Spix carries a pair of sickles inside the long coat he always wears when traveling, and can use a supernatural power called the "Vacuum Breaker," which throws explosive charges from his hands at his command.
The Ghost Orb Clan
Clan of Ninjas who seem to operate for a variety of business owners within the city. Each member of the clan wears a headband sporting a jewel that contains the spirit of an animal sealed inside. When necessary, the jewel can be channeled to bestow its wearer with the respective animal's physical abilities and, to a certain extent, appearance.
