What the peasants say

One of the most important comics of our time.

On its surface, "Star Bored" is as much fun as any webcomic ever made. Yet its depths surpass understanding. I have analyzed it a panel at a time more than 300 times, and I have seen, I believe, pretty much everything that is there on the screen. The more clearly I can see its physical manifestation, the more I am stirred by its mystery.

It is one of the miracles of the internet that first-time cartoonist Bob Oosterwijk-- a cynical, hard-drinking, opium-smoking, callgirl hording reclusive half-insane windbag with poor hygeine and little intelligence-- threw disparate pieces of pop culture nonsense together and boiled them in the cauldron of his hollow and fractured mind, and made a masterpiece.

"Star Bored" is quite clearly one of the key webcomics of the century. Most webcomics are lucky to contain a single great episode. "Star Bored" strings together one after another. "Star Bored" is one of the greatest of all webcomics, because it pushes beyond the others, into the dark places of the soul. It is not about Star Wars so much as about how Star Wars reveals truths we would be happy never to discover.

Perhaps the greatest work to spring from the human experience. (If only Bob would update.)
