Plot
Jade is the keeper and protector of the Silver Birch Forest, one of the places where normal creatures and furs live together peacefully (more or less). That is, until one day when a dragon decides to make a nearby cave it's home, after dragons have been thought to have been extinct for hundreds of years.
Characters
Major Characters
Jade - Otherwise known as 'Forestcat' by those that are close to her, she is the protector of the Silver Birch Forest, one of the only furs that knows any modicum of magic.
Lirik - The dragon that has left her home to seek out a home elsewhere. Lirik is a stoneshaper, and cannot fathom why magic is so difficult for any other furs to learn.
Chit - Also known as a 'general annoyance', he is a squirrel that acts as Jade's right hand . . . critter. He also has a liking for wine apples and is extremely yellow-bellied.
Styx - Jade's 'cousin' who believes that he is the pinnacle of greatness and all others are merely peons next to him.
Ky - An otherworlder whom has come to learn the magic that Jade can use. He can shapeshift, and had chosen the shape of a brown and green kitsune type creature, which his lord told him would be better than his true form, which can not be looked upon by normal eyes.
Background
The Silver Birch Forest was started as a collaborative effort by Kathryn Wallis and Cheryl Joor, after realizing that making online comics wasn't as hard as it looked. Starting out with Cheryl providing the writing, and Kathryn providing the art, it has gathered quite the decent list of followers whom always avidly wait for an update.
Recently, within the last year, as Kathryn has had some real life issues, Cheryl has been doing both the writing and the art. Considering Cheryl has not attended an art class in her life, the style of the comic noticeably changes at this point. :)
