Plot
The year is 1999. In the imaginary city of Tartarus, there lives Jimi Grimling, whose origin and species are as of yet undisclosed. Therefore, he is affectionately dubbed "The Monster" by the city's denizens. He takes up various odd jobs to pay his rent, some of which include hunting down notorious villains or beasts. This is how he came across Jersey, a local of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. It is not known whether he is the Jersey Devil, or just another superpowered mutate. Jimi lets him live back at his place in Tartarus, a 'safe' haven for monsters like them. Jersey, or JD, eventually joins Jimi on his errands to collect bounties and such from the local mobs who run the Lowdowns. With his superhuman powers, he helps Jim to collect more than he bargained for.

Characters
Jimi Grimling
A monster-human hybrid, Jimi was born and raised in Tartarus City. After high school, Jimi found little enjoyment in everyday life, working as a janitor in his apartment building and accepting oddjobs around the city. In an attempt to find himself, Jimi took a road trip. Instead, he found Jersey. Although he had lived alone for over three years before he met Jersey, Jimi enjoys the questionable company of the monsters and lowlives that surround the city. Calm, careful, and calculating, it takes time for Jimi to warm up to others, unless he feels that they are no threat. Jimi was born on November 13, 1980, and he can proudly state that he's never eaten pigs feet, despite what others may state.
Jersey the devil
Discovered by Jimi engaged in combat with another monster of some sort, he has since been Jimi's friend and roommate. He hails from Burlington, New Jersey, but he actually used to live in the nearby Pine Barrens. Nobody has asked how old he is, but it wouldn't matter because not even he remembers. His pyrokinetic abilities were revealed from the beginning, but because no situation no situation has called for it the potentials of this ability have to be displayed. Though not highly intelligent, he is known to be a wise-ass and make jokes at other's expense. His demonic appearance supports his claim to be the as well as spawns new ideas for possible origins. It has yet to be seen whether his "fascination" for Drea will blossom into a meaningful relationship, but it appears that all he is interested in right now is sex.
Bakground & Trivia
- Tartarus City is located in New Columbia (also fictional).
- The city is the last refuge for the world's monsters, but overpopulation has turned into a mutant ghetto
- The Mob in Ch.2 is actually comprised of zombie criminals who died in the 1940's. They require brains whenever they turn or else they become "flesh-eating retards".
- Neither Jimi nor Jersey have a noble cause. They're just two superpowered individuals caught in the middle of Tartarus City's many struggles and conflicts.
- The characters Jimi and JD started out as notebook doodles drawn by James T. and Kurt S., respectively. James had long been drawing many characters since beginning grade school, Jim was just one oif favorites. In their sophomore year, after Kurt had discovered James' sketches, he escaped the boredom of his geometry class and designed his own "superhero". It was a conglomerate of Hellboy, Nightcrawler and Raziel. Their shared stories and backgrounds have gone through many revisions, and only since the beginning of 2006 has the saga blossomed into a published Internet series.
Creators
- James Tilby refers to himself as the "last cartoonist from beyond the Moon". He was born in 1989. He created of Jimi Grimling and Tartarus City. He is an aspiring cartoonist/ghost buster.
- Kurt Smith is always on the lookout for plotholes in the latest Hollywood movie, he created Jersey the devil and Drea Morgan. He was born in March 31, 1989. Obsessed with dinosaurs and Internet culture, Kurt just wants a hug. A hug with meaning.
