Introduction

Tsukiyo has been around in some form or another for about 3 years now. In 2003, Mino wrote the first version of Tsukiyo, 'Falling of the stars' for Shards of glitter studios, then called 'The fall of the angel studios'.(The studio is also called Silver Leaf Studio, and can still be seen through the tripod site) However, Mino stopped writing that version about two months after its debut, because she didn't like how the story was going. The story shifted from a fantasy type story, to an almost science fiction story, and the plot was in her opinion, pointless. In early 2004, Mino rewrote the plot again. This time, however, the plot mirrored that of a traditional fantasy. This version only lasted three pages, and none of these pages were posted online. In mid-2004, the author started to draw Tsukiyo as we see it today. It started out as handwritten, greyscale pages, but was quickly replaced with typed, computer toned pages. It was hosted at the new Shards of Glitter site, until server problems closed it in September of 2005. Now, it is located at Comic Genesis(http://tsukiyo.comicgenesis.com), Smack Jeeves (http://tsukiyo.smackjeeves.com), and finally, at Drunk Duck (http://www.drunkduck.com/Tsukiyo/). Starting in October, 2007, the comic has been restarted. It is currently on page 8, and new pages are added at a rate of once a month or so.

The comic

Tsukiyo is a fantasy/romance webcomic about a girl named Alexia who has just taken the aptitude test that will determine what kind of magic she is supposed to study. Upon completion of the exam, a dance is held, and she meets someone who will play a bigger part later in the story. The next day, the results are posted. Before Alexia finds out what kind of magic she's supposed to study, the school is attacked by a group of robed wearing people, who want to capture Alexia, and bring her back to their country and have her executed. She's saved by a winged man named Ikirai, who takes her to the country of Kerenia, where it's explained that the reason she's being pursued is because of a case of mistaken identity. It turns out that there are only two people in the world that are specilists in the type of magic that she specializes in- herself, and an assassin, who originally had been held in a Kerenian prison. Earlier that day, an assassin killed the king of Coupeale, and fled the scene immediately afterwards. With only the knowledge of what kind of magic was used to commit the crime, the police force of Coupeale look up who knows that type, and decide to pursue whoever is first on the list. Unfortunately for Alexia, she is that person. After being saved, Alexia is taken to the country of Kerenia, where she is to remain until the situation is cleared up. Fortunately for her, the Kerenian king and queen take her in for the time being, as they feel partly responsible for what happened to her. During her stay, she meets new friends, makes a new enemy, and several other, smaller things happen to her.

The world of Tsukiyo

Tsukiyo takes place in an alternate world Europe. However, only eleven countries are actually mentioned.

  • Lilane

The main country in Tsukiyo. It is located on the eastern side of the ocean, and is connected to Inerna and Henkei. It's well known for a giant clock tower in the middle of the country, and for the pastries served in sweets shops. Lilane is where the continent's general language, Lilalian, originated, and is also the birthplace of Alexia.

  • Henkei

Henkei is a small country, located to the west of Inerna. It is noted for its flowers. Canus is originally from here.

  • Ferahe

A medium sized country that is west of Ferakse. Both Trion and Faust are from there.

  • Aranei

A small country next to Ferahe. Both Kijo and Alexei are from there.

  • Inerna

A small country located slightly north of Lilane. This country is known for its natural beauty. Kouen is originally from here.

  • Kerenia

Kerenia is the biggest country in the world of Tsukiyo. It is located east of Henkei, and has its own language, Kerenian. Most people there choose not to learn it, though, as it is difficult to learn. Lilalian is still widely spoken there. Elias is originally from here, as is Mari. It is known widely for its greenery, and archtexture. A part of the comic is spent here, as this is where Alexia is hid from the Coupeale police for several months.

  • Ferakse

Ferakse is a decent sized country, and is located slightly east of Kerenia. Kieya and Alex are both from there.

  • Seraken

Seraken is a relatively small country, located west of Lilane. It's inhabited mostly by wolf people, who generally are pretty decent in toleration of other species. They usually love visitors, and are very hospitable folk. Ikirai is from here, though he seldom returns to his homeland.

  • Derieks

Derieks is a medium sized country, located east of Ferahe. Dereiks is noted for its mages, as every good mage ever born is said to have been born there. The saying seems to be true, as Toki and Filia are born here.

  • Coupeale

Coupeale is probably the most important country on the list. A lot of time is spent there throughout the progess of the story. Coupeale is known for its shopping, gardens, and for being a great place for young couples to fall in love at. It's also well known for its police force, who are highly respected there. The language spoken there is Coupealian, though some may know Lilalian as well. Javert is from Coupeale, and like most others, only knows Coupealian. Coupeale is located east of Ferakse.
