Cast
Ugly Girl
Sometime around 7th grade, someone more popular decided that she was an 'Ugly Girl,' and unfortunately, everyone else decided to agree. It's been a few years, but Ugly's still coming to terms with what that means. She's glum, she's cynical, she's self-absorbed; She's an ugly girl.
Sister-person
Sister-person would probably be considered Ugly Girl's best friend, if Ugly Girl thought she had any. As it stands, SP is the girlfriend of Ugly's seldom seen older brother. So she's not really an actual friend, they just happen to go everywhere and do everything together.
Queerboy
(aka "The Fabulous Queerboy") Ugly Girl's first attempt at love. And he was a great boyfriend... until he came out. But he's still a true and loving friend, the only optimist in the bunch, and one of the few who think that UG isn't ugly. Too bad his opinion doesn't count.
Cynical Sis
Every girl needs a smart-ass little sister to be tormented by, even an ugly girl. If for no other reason than to have a comrade in arms against their horrible, well-meaning family.
Fat Boy
The chubby, enigmatic "new kid" at school. Little is known about him, and few care enough to find out. He has some creepy stalker tendencies, but behind those shifty eyes is a decent guy.
Spaz
Socially speaking, Spaz is Ugly Girl's male doppelganger. He's "the other kid no one wants to be partnered with." Dirt poor, occassionally spastic, and physically and socially inept, he and Ugly became fast friends thanks to their shared love of monster movies.
Fatty
Spaz's best and only friend, from Kindergarten on up. Spaz is relieved that things never "got weird" between them as puberty kicked in. Like most boys, Spaz is completely oblivious.
Tilde
Cynical's best friend. Tilde is doing all she can to hold her small family together. Abandoned by a dead-beat father, she struggles to care for her younger brother and ailing mother, whose debilitating illness (Lupus) she strives to keep a secret from school authorities.
Ugly's Brother
Not too shabby as far as older brothers go. He's a decent guy; a good boyfriend to SP, and he's not horrible to Cynical and Ugly. Plus, he's got a cool haircut, if you like that sort of thing...
Secondary Characters
"That stuck-up bitch"
This girl doesn't have a name or bio. She's lucky she gets to be in the comic at all.
Damned lucky.
Slinky
Cynical's beloved kitty.
Beanpole
The "Mysterious Gentleman Caller" who subjected Ugly Girl to a cruel practical joke. Beanpole is so tall that he doesn't fit in frame, so we've never seen his face.
Tilde's Little Brother
The quintessential bratty little brother.
