In 2003 I sat down to write a short story about life. Life in the town where I live. To better my skills I opted for a male main character and gave him a bestfriend based on a close friend of mine at the time. I decided to take the things I had been through as well as alot of the people I know had been through and tell a story using them. The cast changed and changed until I ended up with Chris, Lina, Alice, and Brad. Origianlly no one died. Then it was Lina. Then I decided Brad.

junkRIOT is about the summer after Chris graduates highschool. It's about him finding his future. It's about Chris and Lina growing up. It's about Chris and Alice. And it's about Brad's death.

Without spoilers that's all I can say.

Name: Christian "Chris" LaFleur

         Age: 18

         Birthday: January 23, 1985

         Location: Lake Charles, Louisiana

         Favorite Color: Green

         Short Bio: When Chris was 7 his father left and never came back. 
         He's lived alone with his mother practically ever since, with the exception 
         of another short marriage that ended in divorce and alot of money for 
         Chris and his mom. Though he hardly ever sees her, he still loves his 
         mother deeply and despite his displeasure in her current life style 
         he tries his best to be a good son. He is a loyal friend and is very 
         close to his bestfriend, Lina. Their mothers being old highschool friends, 
         Chris and Lina have been together since they were both infants. Though 
         often quiet he's always thinking about very serious concerns. He's very 
         artistic but isn't sure if that's where he wants his future to lie.

Name: Angelina "Lina" Breaux

       (pronounced "Bro" if you don't know)

       Age: 18

       Birthday: November 10, 1984

       Location: Lake Charles, Louisiana

       Favorite Color: Bright Pink

       Short Bio: Lina comes from a very broken home. She never knew her 
       father and her mother is an inattentive drunk who just seems to float 
       around the house. Chris is her only stable and constant form of "family". 
       Their similarities in home life and long history together helps keep their 
       friendship strong. She is very protective of Chris and does her best to 
       keep him from feeling any pain, emotional or otherwise. Lina is a very 
       sensual girl, she's sexy and she knows it. She uses her femininity to 
       often get her way and whatever she wants. She enjoys being the center 
       of attention and is very dramatic.

Name: Alice Thomason

       Age: 19

       Birthday: April 05, 1984

       Location: Lake Charles, Louisiana

       Favorite Color: Orange or Light Blue (or both together)

       Short Bio: Alice comes from a loving but very poor household. As 
       soon as she was old enough she got a job and has always studied very hard. 
       She is the lead singer of a local band that does moderately well. When 
       she was 18 she moved out of her parents house and got an apartment of 
       her own, but due to many noise complaints of neighbors she has been evicted 
       and is seeking a new place of residence. When she moved out of her parents 
       house they moved into a smaller home that they could afford, preventing 
       her from moving back in with them.

Name: Bradely "Brad" Hebert

       (pronounced like "a bear" if you don't know)

       Age: Died at age 16; November, 17, 2000

       Birthday: July 12, 1984

       Location: Lake Charles, Louisiana

       Favorite Color: Red

       Short Bio: Brad came from the same home situation as Alice. He 
       and Alice met toward the end of elementary school in a school musical 
       function. They became friends through their love of music. Brad eventually 
       learned to play guitar and also taught Alice. He was a kind and sensitive 
       guy who was also loyal to a fault. He devoted all of himself to his friends 
       and family. Sadly, his life ended part way through 10th grade. His death 
       shattered his family and his friends in an unforgettable way.

Name: Stacy LaFleur

       Age: 46

       Birthday: February 17, 1957

       Location: Lake Charles, Louisiana

       Favorite Color: Purple

       Short Bio: Chris' father was an abusive man who abandoned his wife 
       and son and left them with nothing. Chris' mom married again and divorced 
       and took nearly all of her second husbands money, which she spends now 
       on plastic surgery and her huge house, where she hardly ever stays, she's 
       usually out of town getting plastic surgery. She leaves Chris alone to 
       do what he pleases and gives him credit cards to take care of himself. 
       Aside from the occassional scolding phone call or conversation she hardly 
       interacts with her son at all.

Name: Rick Fontenot

       (Fon te no :D )

       Age: 21

       Birthday: March 09, 1982

       Location: Lake Charles, Louisiana

       Favorite Color: Dull green

       Short Bio: Rick lived in the same neighborhood as Alice and as 
       children the two would play together. As they got older they kept in touch 
       but mostly lived seperate lives. When Alice was forming junkRIOT with 
       Joe, the distant cousin of Brad, she sought out Rick to help them, knowing 
       he played bass guitar. Rick's tactless form of speech and gruff mannor 
       lend all to well to his "rockstar" attitude. He's a tad thoughtless 
       at times but wouldn't let his friends down if they needed him.

Name: Joeseph (Joe) Cormier

       (pronounced Cormiyay if you don't know) 

       Age: 17

       Birthday: April 23, 1986

       Location: Lake Charles, Louisiana

       Favorite Color: Orange

       Short Bio: A distant cousin of Brad's, Joe met Alice through him 
       and the three of them had talked of one day forming a band. After Brad's 
       death Joe went out of his way to contact Alice and make the band the three 
       of them had dreamt about. Thus junkRIOT was born, A friend of Alice's 
       named Rick joined the band as the bassist shortly after and the two of 
       them became fast friends. You'd be hard pressed to find Joe without Rick 
       by his side. Joe is quiet and sarcastic but deeply cares for his small 
       circle of friends.
