FAQ

What is a Dropdown?

It's a form styled dropdown selection tool, that lists various comics of a specific theme. Each comic is linked you select the comic from said form dropdown box and it takes you there.

The idea is so a reader can find other comics similar to the one they are reading.

How do I join a dropdown?

Find a dropdown into which you think your comic will fit (see the list of dropdowns). Post the information requested by the moderator into the thread. You will have to post the dropdown code somewhere on your site (it's really nice to do this before applying). Sit back and wait for the mod to get back to you.

Do I actually have to put the script on my page?

YES.

What do I do if there isn't a dropdown which fits me?

Start one. Or get someone else to. The first is recommended.

How many dropdowns can I join?

As many as you want. However, dropdown scripts are slow to load and can drag down your page. Three or four are the recommended max.

What is a zombie dropdown?

Dropdowns occasionally kick it. This is usually caused by the mod being unable or unwilling to continue to keep it up. Alternatively, some mods simply vanish. This missing moderator phenomenon is known as maddixing.

Before attempting to join a dropdown, check to see when the mod last posted. If it was over a year start running before it gets your brain. And don't try to join.

So You Wanna Start a Dropdown

  • Starting Out: First decide what kind of dropdown you want and come up with a set of qualifications for. Write the dropdown code and upload it to your site.
  • The Banner: You'll need to design a banner to go along the top. Sizes vary but be careful not to get too large. 200x40 is good.
  • Getting People to Join: Start a thread in the Dropdown & Crossover forum and post the dropdown qualifications and the script code in it. Keep it up to date.
