Once every couple of years, the Comic Genesis General Discussion forum becomes awash in complete disarray as a new President is elected to watch over and provide for the community at large. This individual's duties include the protection or harassment (mostly harassment) of n00bs, post-whoring, entertaining other forumites, and general power-tripping.

Evil Jamie! of the Evil Jamie party - Not surprisingly, Jamie's stint as President was marked mostly by evil acts, setting things on fire, and overall maliciousness.

Despite what certain other people might want you to believe, Mr.Bob actually won the last election! Our current so-called reign of Anarchy is a sham! Do not believe their filthy Anarchist lies! Muahahahaha!!!

The Neko won the 2007 election after the second vote and promptly disappeared. Currently, Keffria appears to be running the show.

2005
It was a bleak time for the artists formerly known as Keenspace. There was a great name change in the wind, and no one knew what they were going to be called at the end of the day. Toonspacers? Inkspacers? Comic Genners? Uneasiness turned to fear, fear turned to panic, and panic finally turned to action!
In the mass confusion surrounding the name change, several factions began to appear, each with their own suggested name and an ideology to go behind it. As luck would have it, it was around this time that Evil Jamie's term as President was terminating, so it was decided that the dispute between these new factions should be determined through the upcoming election. The three largest of the new political parties (AnarchySpace, CapitalistSpace, and CommieSpace) quickly made their marks and threw their gauntlets down, their hats into the ring, and several other pieces of clothing as well. A few others (like the Swedish Party and the Oligarchy Party) did so as well, but all the people who voted for them were just throwing their votes away, the fools.
Campaigning for the voting public's votes began shortly thereafter. Mud (and several sorts of things not quite as nice as mud) was slung from every corner in the mad dash to claim power. At several points, the political war became so heated that many thought that it would erupt into yet another Revolution. This was, in fact, quite possible considering that CommieSpace and CapitalistSpace were being led by two prominent members of the old McDuffies Empire while AnarchySpace was founded by a great warrior of the Rebellion. Fortunately, it never went quite that far and peace was - just barely - maintained.
After the campaigning was over, the first round of voting commenced. It was the first round because it ended in a tie between AnarchySpace and CapitalistSpace, with CommieSpace a single vote behind them. So a second round of voting, this time only including the big three as choices, was instigated. Once again, a tie emerged, this time between CapitalistSpace and CommieSpace, with AnarchySpace lagging by just one vote.
Sadly, instead of listening to reason or even trying another revote, the election arbitrator used a rather ridiculous method of breaking the tie and declared CommieSpace the winner! Their leader, Mr.Bob, quickly moved into office before any real objections had time to be made, discarded his communist ideology, and quickly began to crush everyone under his well-polished (with the spit of slaves, no doubt) leather shoe.
There are many who still declare Mr.Bob's election null and void, but most of them have decided to simply and quietly bide their time until the next election and their party's eventual success.
2007
As 2007 dawned on the denizens of Comic Genesis, the forums were at peace. The current President, Mr.Bob, was either still in office or just released from jail (the official history still isn't clear) and keeping a low profile ... then Rusty Night had to go and ruin everything.
It's Rusty's Fault
After spending way too many all-nighters reading the CGWiki, he discovered that it was an election year. After making it known on the forums, Jops dissolved the Parliament of Comic Genesis and called an election. Mr.Bob immediately declared his intention to seek reelection and brought on Mercury Hat and Black Sparrow to run his campaign. Neko declared his candidacy a few days later and wound up with Keffria and Mon_Ami as his campaign advisers. AnarchySpace, the PartiGenesis, and the Pocket Kitty Party also ran candidates. Nanda became an overnight poll sensation by running a "not running" campaign (later stolen by Fred Thompson in his bid for the 2008 Republican nomination). Dragonkingdoms ran for a while on a "the Neko is mean" platform ... no one cared.
OMG! Controversy (again)
With no primary elections to narrow the field of candidates, the first vote was surrounded by controversy. Mr.Bob finished first past the post (34%) with Neko (31%) and Nanda (15%) behind him respectively. However, since there were accusations of ballot-stuffing were made against the Mr.Bob campaign, Jops had no choice but to hold another vote with the top three candidates. In the second round of voting, Neko came in first (41%) followed by Mr.Bob (39%) and Nanda (17%) respectively.
Have you seen our president?
Neko became the Third President of the General Discussion and immediately disappeared. Keffria appointed herself de facto president, and no one really seemed to care. Life eventually returned to normal.
random reports have come in that Neko has been seen at several cat shows in Southern Ontario. If you have seen Neko, you're asked to call the Comic Genesis Police Department tip line at 1-800-555-TIPS (8477).

Fun Fact: No President has yet to be elected to a second term! (Evil Jamie did not run in 2005; Mr.Bob was defeated in 2007; The Neko skipped the country with the treasury in 2009)
