Help:Organizing
From CGWiki
In order to keep the wiki navigable, pages should be organized when possible. This can be achieved by putting them in categories, but sometimes it's necessary to move, merge, or add in redirects in pages to cut down on confusion and duplication.

Redirecting pages
Redirects can be very useful for pages which may go by more than one name, when one name for a page is preferred over another or is more common, or when a page cannot be moved and has to have a new page created.
For example: The page Comic Genesis has a redirect to ComicGenesis, which is how the name should be spelled.
To create a redirect
- Edit the page and clear it of all text.
- Put in this code: #REDIRECT [[New page]]
- Save the page.
Now if you try to directly access this old page, it will automatically redirect you to the new page.
Moving pages
Most all article pages have a link at the top of the page next to history called "move". If an article needs a new title (because of a typo or incorrect capitalization, for instance) or if it needs to be in either moved to a namespace or moved to a different one, use this function. Let's move my favorite fictional comic from Super_Fantastic_Punch_Out to Comic:Super_Fantastic_Punch_Out
- Click on the move link.
- In the box for new title, type in what the page should be. In this example, we would put in Comic:Super_Fantastic_Punch_Out .
- Click "move page" and you're done.
Note that some things like Categories cannot be moved at all. In cases such as this, a redirect would need to be used instead.
Merging pages
Sometimes it's necessary to merge pages when you have two (or more) articles which are small enough and would be better suited to being part of a larger article. Say you have a main article about Pepsi Cola and there are some small articles about Diet Pepsi and Crystal Pepsi. The articles about the Diet and Crystal Pepsi are too small to be their own separate articles and would be much better added into the main article about Pepsi Cola so you'll have to merge them together.
How to merge
- Open the main article, in this case Pepsi Cola, as well as the other article(s), Diet and Crystal Pepsi, which are going to be merged together.
- Open the edit pages to all the articles.
- Copy and paste the entire article(s) which are going to be merged into the main. In this example, you'd copy all the information from the Diet Pepsi article, paste it into the Pepsi Cola article and do the same thing for Crystal Pepsi.
- The smaller articles should now be blank (Diet and Crystal Pepsi). Put in a redirect to the main page (Pepsi Cola) in the blank article(s).
- Save all the pages. Diet Pepsi and Crystal Pepsi now should redirect to Pepsi Cola which contains the information previously found in those two articles.
