Disclaimer: Many noobs never actually get fixed. It's a very big Box.

Rules

The Box/Bag Rules:

• 1. The Box/Bag is a running gag on these forums used so that I can feel minorly superior to newbies. Don't be offended.
• 2. The Box/Bag is capitalized.
• 3. The Box/Bag cannot be damaged or destroyed; only its physical incarnations.
• 4. The Bag is used when the server is down.
• 5. christwriter is NOT cute.
• 6. There is no rule # 6.
• 7. Spoder Man/Mon is an idiot.
• 8. Have you been boxed? See if you have enough for a class action suit!
• 9. DarkMagician is GOD! BOW TO HIM! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!
• 10. The amount of volume in The Box is just enough for three people less then there are in The Box. The amount of supplies for food is just enough for five less to survive on.

The Box started as a place where all newbies on Comic_Genesis_Forums would be placed as a sort of initiation. It was mostly called up by DarkMagician, and dispised by many, most notably evil Jamie. Later DarkMagician redefined The Box as a place where newbies go only it they attract attention to themselves by one of forum childhood diseases, such as:

1. Being impolite.

2. Attention-whoring.

3. Posting in leet, without punctuation or with gratingly bad grammar.

4. Overposting.

5. Saying: "Hey, I've never been boxed before!"

6. Plugging a comic strip in anywhere else but the Comic Pitching forum.

7. Posting an introduction without any other topics in the thread.

8. Any other of numerous idiotic acts.

This redefines the newbie to the lower-ranked n00b.

Another alternative definition of The Box is that it's a place with as much space in it as there are people in it - minus three. Thus, The Box is perpetually an unpleasant place to stay.

The problem with The Box is that newbies accept it without a second thought; many of them like being in there and refuse to get out. The reason is that they probably think that being the subject of the inside joke means being accepted into the community, which is not the truth. On the contrary, in many cases, the inside joke is a sign of being resented by community, at least at first impression.

The other problem that occurs is that newbies rush to put other newbies in The Box, even though they were subjects of boxing recently as well. They often do that before properly being informed about The Box, which is the cause for the misconception that all newbies go into The Box which is, as explained, not true.

Finally, the reason why this in-joke cannot die is that there is always one in the crowd who will say "Get in The Box!" to which the newbie will be curious about what The Box is, which inevitably leads every newbie-related thread to transform into long-winded, repetitive talk about The Box.

Many forumers claim their right to the box, especially if they are in The Box, even though The Box is actually operated from outside. almighty_pyro claimed to Be the King of The Box, until he was ejected by DarkMagician.

With all this, even DarkMagician started to resent this in-joke; despite all, he is the only one who has right to claim ownership of The Box as he is the one who invented it and supported it during it's toughest periods. Nowadays, The Box is a trendy thing and once again has the aura of rebellion about it that it had during its initial incarnation.

Fun Fact: before The Box was invented, newbies were initiated into the community by setting their pants on fire for one short period.
