Characters

Major characters

Character Age Appearance Bio/description
Irene Gentry, ne Hadley mid-twenties Red hair, green eyes, 5'3 Formerly a warrior babe of epic proportions, now an archaeologist. Irene was all set to enjoy life without broadswords when a portal appeared under her kitchen sink. Torn between dismay at once again having her life intruded upon by the Powers that Be and admission that a life devoid of buttkicking would eventually turn dull, Irene is inclined to vent her frustrations, as well as the rest of her emotions, very openly. By turns childishly exuberant and fiercely paranoid, Irene has a sizeable amount of emotional baggage, a good heart and a disregard for letting anything get in the way of her living - even if it IS her own inclination to worry. She likes knitting, white crane style kung fu, books about sex, and breakfast cereal with marshmallows.

She is married to Allen, and is protective of him to a degree that borders on the obsessive. This is not a reflection on Allen's character, since Irene's husband is one of the few people she has absolute faith in. It's the rest of the world she distrusts.

Allen Gentry late twenties Black hair, brown eyes, 6'6 Allen is a man whose belief in inherent human decency occasionally leaves him disappointed, but rarely surprised. Intelligent, optimistic, and easygoing, Allen and his admirable collection of firearms are the cavalry to Irene's one-woman army. He is expressive, but rarely overwhelmed, and there are only a few things that can make Allen visibly unsettled. Among these are harm to his wife, harm to his car, and unlabelled shoes. When none of these are an issue, Allen is levelheaded, inclined to meet the supernatural with a scientific questionnaire and a sample collector, for future study. He has owned the same hat for fifteen years, and owns a Delorean which he is attempting to turn into a time machine, just so he can say that he has. He sees the presence of a portal in his house as both a nuisance and a source of continued study of the nature of space and time, and only worries about it where Irene is concerned, since Allen is more than aware of his wife's inclination to paranoia.

Allen would follow his wife across time itself. It would be easy, given that he's already done it at least once.

Minor characters

Character Age Appearance Bio/description
Link Eternal Blue, glowy Overworked, Unpaid, and Underappreciated. Link is a creature of the Ether, involved in smoothing the operations of interdimensional coexistance. While Link is, in fact, some sort of Power That Be, he has a lot more celestial schmoozing to do before hes anywhere near the level of whoever it is that put the portal in Irenes kitchen.
Freckles 2.5 Black and white scales, slim build A semidomesticated king snake who has the run of the Gentry house, Freckles serves the dual role of pest control and family pet. Freckles enjoys the occasional rat and appears unimpressed by just about everything.
