Corina Becker's Amhelaki Misadventures started online on June 19, 2003, and has continued to randomly update in chapters, due to the creator's mad schedule of school, art, anime and gaming. The story follows the adventures, or misadventures of a group of misfit friends, as they stumble into times of Prophecy and the beginings of the next Great Mage War.
Series
Amhelaki Misadventures, or AM, is considered by Corina to be the third in a trilogy of books called The Mages of Amhelaki. The online comic form she views as a visual outline for the eventual novel she plans to write, titled "The Misfit of Amhelaki", to join the first two books, "The Mystic of Amhelaki" and "The Strange of Amhelaki". However, that will be in the future, as she has recently begun to rewrite the first book.
The World of Kakimo
The story takes place in the future, where science has been replaced by magic. Somehow, in the forgotten streams of time, other races have emerged, the Elves, the Dwarves, Goblins, Kyneri, and Felinen. Ancient history indicates that these races did not exist before what they call "The Fall of Science", and they appeared sometime during the "Age of Wandering". When exactly, no one knows.
At the end of the Age of Wandering, the countries where established: The Elfhelm States, the Free Human Kingdoms, the Dwarfdom, Orcberg Posts, and the Empire of Amhelaki. Other uninhabitable areas are the Icewall and the Waiting Desert. Some time before Amhelaki Misadventures, the Empire of Amhelaki Fell, and now the lands are rather toxic for most creatures, earning the name the Ruins of Amhelaki.
Originally, the countries each had their own governmental system, but after the Mage Wars it was decided that an international council of government would benefit and avoid the need for wars. So the Council and the Mage Council was created.
