Having never been ouside his desert kingdom, Saelier pleads aid from the Dwarves and is left with a strange companion... Meet the sister of Prince Chadoken Dvallin of Nidavellier, the blacksmith tomboy: Kai.

Countries and Kingdoms

The world of Ymir has nine countries each ruled by its respectful monarch, and a High King who reigns over his domain and all eight other rulers.

Alfheim

Alfheim is the desert Kingdom of Elves, ruled by Queen DejaVu the Mystic.

Elves

Elves are a race of Humans with exceptional hearing (due to their trademark long ears) and immunity to poison. Elves typically have dark brown skin, dark eyes, and light-colored hair. The Elvin royal family, however, posesses gold or silver eyes as proof of their lineage. Prince Saelier is an exception to the Elvin description, and will most likely have to refuse ascension of the throne because of his black hair and green eyes.

Nidavellier

Dwarves reside in the underground nation of Nidavellier. This country is divided into five sections: Nordri to the north, Sudri to the south, Eustri to the east, Westri to the west, and the capital city of Orie in the center.

Dwarves

Dwarves are stocky humans with exceptional physical strength. Their bones are harder than iron and very dense allowing for intense physical labor. They have light-colored eyes that glow and allow them to see in the dark. They also have dark marks drawing down from the corner of their eyes.

Svartalfheim

Svartalfheim lies underground to the west of Alfheim and is home to the Dark Elves, or Drow. Svartalfheim is ruled by Queen Trillix the Sly. Svartalfheim is an ally to Nidavellier.

Dark Elves or Drow

They have dark, almost black skin, white or light-colored hair and red pupils that, like the Dwarves, allows them to see in the dark, and long ears, like the Elves, that allow for keen hearing. They are a race of warriors very skilled in both Knotwork and Runic Arts, as well as physical combat.

Niflheim

A land of ice and snow to the south. There's a large chunk of land off the northwestern coast of Niflheim that is warmer, almost tropical, and home to a majority of the Undines. The Pirate King is said to rule this nation from its capital, Atlantis.

Undines

Undines are famous for their underwater cities and pirating. They're a race of albinos and can breath underwater for days at a time.

Muspelheim

Muspelheim is a country of mystery and is under close guard by those known as Ninjas. The entire coutry's shape is under constant change from excessive volcanic activity. The legendary forest Myrkwood surrounds the entirety of this country.

Salamands

Salamands live secluded in Muspelheim and have an incredible resistance to heat. It's said that Salamands can sleep submersed in magma without so much as a single degree burn. They prefer their isolation, but have an information network that none can rival.

Midgard

The middle land. Just about every race lives here, but Midgard is also home to more criminals and shady-types than all other nations combined. The black market is very prominent here.

Jotunheim

Jotunheim was once home to the Gaents (Giants, or Jotuns). Hundreds ruins litter this land, and the high king makes his home here in an anceint palace.

Gaents, Giants, or Jotuns

The Gaents were said to be the first inhabitants of Ymir, and spoke the long forgotten language of the gods known as Futhark. It was also said that Gaents could cast powerful spells by simply speaking. The language has long since been lost, though some fragments of Futhark still remain in the spells invoked by modern mages. However, these verses have very little power in them. Rumors have lately surfaced that there's a Futhark speaker who's fluent in the ancient tongue, though they haven't been confirmed.

Vanaheim

Vanaheim is a series of enchanted forests, lakes, glades, and ruins all ruled by the Fae. The land has ample resources and has forever been a target of aquisition by those who wish to claim its wealth for themselves. However, the Fae protect the land feircely and only those who do not wish to pillage the land are allowed to enter unharmed.

Fae

Fae are tiny little humans no more than an inch high. They posess shape-shifting abilities that allow them to change their shape and size at will. They have wings similar to the Sylphs, but they are not made of energy and are attached to their backs. They glow faintly and have pointed ears and brightly colored pupiless eyes. They use Knotwork to invoke Elementals -- spirits of Ymir -- and harness their powers for themselves. They are exceptionally skilled in magic, but have very little skill in physical combat.

Asgard

Asgard is a mountainous country and home to the Theocracy of Aesir, led by the High King and Priest Baldur. This country is subject to many tornados because the earth's steering winds collect in the valleys. Thus, most buildings are built into the mountains. The area is rather desolate, since the soil has little nutrients, but there are enough fertile valleys accessible by air to provide for its inhabitants.

Sylphs

Slyphs are wirey and of slender builds. Every sylph has their own pair of wings that appear and disappear at will. This wings are formed by the life energy of the user, and are very fragile. However, they are a vital part of the Sylphan culture since the layout and scope of the land requires the use of air travel to get from one place to another. Sylphs have excellent eye sight, and are highly skilled in ranged combat and knotwork. They are also great historians.
