Quick summary
Gunmetal Annie was the on-going story of two Earth kids, Greg and Dana, and the events which caused them to leave their home planet one day. It begins in the year 2024 and much of the action takes place on the ship the "Gunmetal Annie".
With aliens, androids, and shameless sex jokes, Gunmetal Annie will pull you in and make you cry for updates. Just ask K-Dawg if you don't believe it.
Began at the end of January in 2004, the comic is a blend of science fiction, humor, drama, and a bit of romance on the side. The current story doesn't really pick up until the third chapter, but there's plenty there to trick you into being addicted.
Mercury Hat decided to give it an undignified death and it remains incomplete and quite dead. She will be starting up a new comic, however, so hooray for all'a'dat.
Not so notable achievements
Briefly a contender in the Lazy Grind, Gunmetal Annie was rather quickly eliminated after just eight updates. Despite a half-hearted promise to continue updating, the artist has really slacked off, sometimes going up to a month between updates.
It is now very much dead.
In-depth information
Background
The comic opens with a history lesson in which we learn that in January of 2004, a shapeshifting race of aliens has made contact with the planet Earth. At first appearing to be a peaceful race, their leader quite suddenly assassinates the President of the United States on national television before coordinated attacks on major cities occurred all across the globe. Over the next year, a time known as the Cleansing, the Earth's population was drastically reduced as these aliens, the Beings, took over. After they assumed control, they divided the world between themselves and the remaining Earthlings, turning their areas into a penal colony.
