Introduction

Station V3 is a daily science-fiction webcomic by Tom Truszkowski. The comic first went online May 6, 2003, moved to ComicGenesis (KeenSpace at the time) July of that year, and off onto its own site October 4, 2005. Station V3 has three spinoff comics: Z7, which started on Drunkduck (and has since moved to where Station V3 is) and currently updates at least once a week, Ebb's Children, which updates a whole lot less frequently than that, and Silence In The Darkness On Q16, which updates daily.

Setting

Station V3 takes place mainly on and around a rest stop and refueling station (V3) in a distant solar system where very few people need to rest or refuel. Occasional missions will take people out of the system, and the Station Authority that runs the station and the crew's alternate universe counterparts are also sometimes seen.

Cast

  • Floyd: The station's robotic (and very badly programmed) Station Administrator.
  • Mr. Maintenance Engineer: A green humanoid alien named for his function.
  • Emmit: The station's shuttle pilot and token human.
  • Linton: The station's overenthusiastic amphibian security officer.
  • Ebb (and/or Neap): A silent yellow floating alien who serves some unknown purpose on the station.
  • Morty: An orange intelligent fungus, assistant to Mr. Maintenance Engineer.
  • The Chef: A large blue tentacled alien responsible for the preparation of food (or something close to it) in the station's cafeteria.
  • The Plant: Evil mastermind, or perhaps just decoration.
  • Unit Six: An android often assigned to the station as a general fill-in crew member.
  • The Computer: The station's cheap and not especially useful computer.
  • Alternate Floyd: A different version of Floyd from an alternate dimension.
  • The Pirates: Relatives of Linton's who live on the nearby planet and enjoy trying to take over the station.
  • The Rumormongers: Small blue creatures who also live on the nearby planet and enjoy spreading rumors, frequently about the station. Most are hard to tell apart, but one is named Julius, another frequently wears a helmet with an antenna, and a third one spends all of his time in a cardboard box.
  • Honest J!on: A local entrepreneur who runs just about every business on the nearby planet.
  • Mr. Substitute: A relative of Mr. Maintenance Engineer's assigned to the station to substitute for him.
  • Violet: A small purple tentacled alien who serves as the station's PR representative, despite the fact that nobody can understand her except the Plant, and to a limited extent, Mr. Substitute.
  • The Plotter Fish: A small fish involved in a conspiracy against the station, now living in a tank in Honest J!on's aquarium.
