The Bastion is about a war torn world where the conflict has come to a stalemate. The enemies who call themselves the Advance cannot find the hidden villages where the youth are protected, raised, and trained to fight. The rebellion cannot take back control form such a large force. The standoff persists for years until a sorceress mysteriously appears and then disappears just as inexplicably. This woman may hold the key to victory for either side. The catch... she is not human.

| Notes: Richard is just a normal child, a bit shy and quiet, but normal. At least everyone thought so until bandits attacked his village. The question of his normality came into question after the �demon cat� appeared and saved him. Just what is his apparent connection with the �demon cat?� |

| Notes: There are many more questions than answers about this feline. One can safely assume she is a sorceress, but that is about it. She first appeared when she saved Richard from a bandit, and then continued to defeat the rest of the bandit with almost disturbing ease. She seems to be good, but what did she mean by �bound to a little boy?� |

| Notes: Cyrus began much like Richard. The Advance destroyed his town when he was young. However, this is where the similarity ends. Cyrus brought together the left behind children with his natural leadership ability and intelligence and started causing trouble for the Advance. The rebellion eventually took notice and brought him under their guidance. Cyrus proved to be a prodigy with the sword, and he was granted the right to be the youngest squadron leader yet. |

| Gerard is the oldest member of Cyrus's squadron, but still has experience well beyond his years. Thus, the other members of the squadron often call him grandpa. In truth however, he is not that old, and Cyrus is the only one young enough to even be his son. Of course, his grandfatherly personality does not help this much. To Gerard's advantage, this has caused many enemies to underestimate him. For someone to survive what he has been through, he had to be challenging to beat . |
