The Beginning
In late May, it was decided that the General Discussion forum should hold elections for a new president. Jops, who had headed up the last election which Evil Jamie had won, would be reprising his role.
Any forumite could vie for a spot on the poll, all they had to do was campaign. And campaign they did. Not even the chat was safe from the onslaught of slogans and promises.
By the end of the two week deadline, the political parties and their candidates were ready for the election.
The Election
With the candidates and parties established, Jops opened the polls for the big election. A strict "no campaigning" rule was put into effect, but after a few penalties dished out by Jops, tensions began to run high. In its final hours, it was clear that there was a tie between the Capitalists, Anarchists, and Communists. Mooman, who had promised to cast his vote if necessary for a tie-breaker, was nowhere to be seen and Mr Bob's final cries as the poll closed was in anguish for the missing voter. Mooman couldn't hear, however, for he'd been on holiday.
Mooman:
Ah, the funny thing is, that the whole 'tie-breaker' thing in the original vote was what I was going for, then I go away on a lil holiday and completely forget. Hoorah!
Well, Bob won in the end, so he can't be too mad at me.
Right?
The Tie-breaker
Since Jops hadn't planned for a tie, much less a three-way tie, it was necessary to hold another election between the three top parties with a sooner deadline. However, despite Jops's warning, in true ridiculous Comic Genesis forum style, this second poll ended in another tie between the Communists and the Capitalists.
Fed up with polls and the entire election itself, Jops turned to the chat to find the winner in a completely unbiased fashion.

After much grief, General Discussion finally had its new leader.
The Jam

The president had been elected, although after the last election he'd been in exile and, as such, was a bit late in his first presidential address. After declaring open-season on all who oppose him, the jam started up with gusto. Hoping for a reprisal of the Revoultion Jam, most of the rebels went to work in off topic although some stayed to infiltrate Bob's administration. |
